2001 Troop Events U.S.S. Yorktown - Patriots Point, Charleston, S.C., December 7-9. Six Scouts accompanied Chip and some Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts to the aircraft carrier Yorktown for the weekend. Shotgun/Rifle Shooting - Scouts shot rifles and shotguns on the range at Camp Durant. The trip was from November 30 to December 2. AT Backpacker - Nine Scouts, accompanied by seven adults, hiked a section of the AT in Virginia, from Petite's Gap to the James River, and another stretch north of the James. The backpacking trip began on Friday night, November 2, with a difficult 2.2 mile stretch that had two steep ascents and two steep descents. It concluded with a much easier 2 mile hike on Sunday morning. All in all, the group hiked about 14 miles in beautiful fall weather. View photos. Occoneechee Council Camporee - The Troop attended the Camporee at Ft. Bragg from October 12 to October 14. Scouts visited the Merit Badge Midway and some awesome displays.
