Please contact me by phone (919-544-4890) or E-mail at phageds6a@aol.com prior to Jan.18 as I need to purchase and prepare the food. It will be a fun trip to participate in with many good memories.

Feb 3-5
Scout Ski Trip
Location: Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort, West Virginia: http://www.snowshoemtn.com. This has proven to have the most reliable conditions and very good customer service, and the slopes have been enjoyed by all. Despite the lousy weather, they currently (Jan 9)   have 44slopes open and will have many more by the time of the trip.

Lodging
: Marlinton, West Virginia, Town Hall. Heated, Dry, Secure, Electrified, with men's and women's bathrooms. Sleep on the floor in sleeping bags, cots, or the popular inflatable mattress.

Merit Badge: We could really use someone to help out with the merit badge. Chuck French did a great job last year. I hope that scouts will achieve the snow sport merit badge in one day.

July 15 - 24
National Scout Jamboree in West Virginia
Imagine whitewater rafting, zip-lining, rappelling, mountain biking, hiking, and more - with 50,000 of your closest friends at the brand new BSA Summit Bechtel Reserve in the wilds of West Virginia.  Troop 451 has been offered its own 2013 National BSA Jamboree troop under the leadership of Scoutmaster Jim Salamon. The cost is estimated to be $1,100.00.  To participate, Scouts must be:
1. First Class Scout;
2. At least 12 years of age by July 15, 2013, or an 11 year old who has completed the 6th grade;
3. Less than 18 years of age by July 24, 2013; and
4. Approved by the Scoutmaster

BSA National will provide all troop equipment such as tents and cooking equipment which will be in the campsite upon the troop's arrival.  Scouts will only bring personal gear in a duffel bag which will be provided by BSA National as part of the jamboree fee.  Each campsite will be provided with electricity and bathroom facilities. Plans are to provide each Scout with a cell phone which is programmed with individual schedules.   Rather than being camped in subcamps by region, troops will be camped alongside troops from Alaska, Hawaii, California, etc.   The programs will be offered from daylight to dark, and troops may decide when they wish to prepare meals. Cooking will be done at the troop level rather than patrol level.  Lunches will be issued with breakfast in the morning. Access to program areas will be limited to jamboree participants. Visitors will not be allowed in the campsites. Visitors will be charged a reasonable fee, and pre-registration will be required.

July/31 - August 13 Japanese National Jamboree
Unique opportunity to experience scouting in the far east.  Please contact Brendan for more information asap.
