the USS
Yorktown in Charleston, South Carolina. Scavenger
hunts

tours help make this one of the most popular
events every year.

Scouts completed requirements for their Geology Merit Badge

November 1 Mawat District
Merit Badge College.
Troop 451 Scouts earned merit badges at Duke University. Several
scout parents taught classes.

October 28 Haunted House
Boy scouts setup a Haunted House evening in the scout hut proving fun
for local area cub scouts.

October 17-19 Tuscarora Cub Fall
Weekend Campout
Our boy scouts earned service hours by helping out at this cub scout
event.

October 3-4 Indoor Rock Climbing
Scouts and parents spent the nignt at The Vertical Edge to learn rock
climbing skills.

August 29-31 Camp Campbell
Water Park
Troop 451 again hosted our annual water park on Kerr Lake. We had
sailing boats, power boats, a zip line over water, a water slide, a
rope bridge over water, and a free swim area.

August 13-20 Canadian Canoe Trip
Operation River Rats. Over a dozen scouts and adults
travelled to North Bay, Ontario, to begin a 5 day canoe trip around the
Four Mile Lake area. Scouts were able to experience
first-hand French fur trader North Bay to Mattawa river route; learn
some history of famous Nipissing – North Bay river route; experience
Canada; improve canoe and water navigation skills; and mostly - Have

July 20 - 26 Summer Camp Raven Knob
Twenty eight scouts, two full time adults, several part time adults,
and five scouts from friendly area troops trekked to Camp Raven Knob
for a week of fun, fellowship, and adventures. Here are the
numbers:
55 merit badges completed and earned by Troop
451 Scouts; 16 merit badges completed and earned by the five
Scouts from Troops 400, 424 and 486 ; 18 merit badges
partially completed by Troop 451 Scouts; and 4 merit badges partially
completed by the five Scouts from Troops 400, 424 and 486

June 20 - July 16
Philmont
Road Trip
Over 20 scouts and adults set off on a cross
country adventure to the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. On
the way, scouts camped in Memphis, Oklahoma City, western Kansas, the
Colorado Rockies, Utah, Las Vegas, and the Grand Canyon.

June 29 - July 5 Summer Camp Tuscarora
Several Troop 451 scouts spent a week at Camp
Tuscarora in eastern
North Carolina, earning these achievements:
1 rank advancement for a Troop 451 Scout;
66 merit badges completed and earned by Troop 451 Scouts; 3 merit
badges completed and earned by our Troop 424 Scout friend, and another
28 merit badges which were partially completed by Troop 451

June 20 - 22 New Scout Camp Out
New Scouts in Troop 451 camped at Jordan Lake with adult volunteers and
senior scout troop guides to work on basic camping skills needed to
advance on the road of scouting. See the photos from this trip |

May 24-26 White Water Rafting
59 Scouts, siblings, and adults camped in the US Forest Service
campground near the Appalachian Trail in Hot Springs, NC. The
primary activity was white water rafting on the French Broad
River. Camp food included roast turkeys, shrimp and grits, and,
of course, lots of bacon.

Scouts
and Webelos spent the night in the indoor rock climbing center
scaling walls, building friendships, and learning the ropes!

Military Through the Ages - Jamestown, VA
In this popular trip, scouts camped
and bicycled through history.

New
Scout Advanement Camp - March 8 - 9
Two dozen new scouts, troop guides, and adult leaders camped at
beautiful Camp Campbell on Kerr Lake. Young scouts earned credit
towards 2nd and 1st class scout ranks.

and shotgun - February

Eleven scouts earned shooting or
archery merit badges, and several more made good progress towards the
same during camp at Raven Knob. The fnal roster included 36
Scouts,

Webelos,
14 Webelos Adults, 3 Guests, and 20 Adults for a
total of 87 participants. Way to go 451!

10
Scouts attended
area worship services including Westminster Presbyterian where they
helped out by ushering, serving coffee, and presenting the children's
message.

Ski Trip to Timberline, West Virginia - January 19-21
Scouts
and their families caravaned to the Canaan Valley
area of West Virginia for a day of skiing at Timberline Ski
Resort. Great conditions were found and several scouts earned the
snow sport merit badge.

Pack 451 Pinewood Derby - January 19
Scouts from Troop 451 earned service hours by volunteering to help
run this event.
|
|
Winter Backpacking - January 4-6
Scouts travelled to the Blue Ridge Mountains
of
Virginia to hike and camp on The Priest mountain. Participation
earned credit for hiking and camping merit badges.
